These photographs are all of a charter train on 20th December 2008 from Birmingham New Street to Manchester Piccadilly and return, plus an additional working to and from Hadfield. The special trains were run in aid of the BBC Radio WM Kidney Kids appeal.

Featured locomotive is 86259 "Les Ross". Diesel loco 47773 assisted with the necessary shunting and also hauled the train from Hadfield to Manchester.

86259 at Hadfield. This is believed to be the first time that a Class 86 locomotive has ever been to Hadfield, which until 1984 was electrified at the 1500 V dc system. Beyond the buffer stop the line continued across the Pennines to Woodhead and Sheffield, the line closing in 1981.
