6th September 2008

On 6th and 7th September 2008, Lafarge Cement UK held a 2 day open weekend at their Hope Works in Derbyshire. This was to celebrate the opening of the new multi million pound sidings and loading facilities. The event attracted a number of visiting diesel and steam locomotives which were used to haul passengers up and down the 2 mile branch line.

A works tour was available including a visit to the main quarry area.
